IBOSD - Frequently Asked Questions
The fundamental difference lies in what is being certified. Traditional awarding bodies primarily certify theoretical knowledge, whereas IBOSD certifies workplace competence— what a learner can apply, perform, and communicate in real-world situations.
No. While IBOSD includes knowledge assessment, it does not rely solely on written examinations. Instead, IBOSD uses a structured, multi-layered assessment framework that evaluates knowledge, performance, and professional communication.
PAEP (Publicly Auditable Evidence of Performance) is IBOSD's core assessment framework used to verify that learners can demonstrate real-world competence in a manner that is transparent, evidence-based, and auditable.
PAEP consists of three integrated components:
- PAEP A – Academic Knowledge: System-based evaluation of essential theoretical understanding
- PAEP B – Practical Performance: Automated evaluation through the IBOSD assessment system using predefined performance criteria and performance-based evidence
- PAEP C – Communication & Competency: Combined system-based evaluation of submitted reports and evidence, along with panel-based evaluation of the learner's communication ability, professional reasoning, and competence demonstration
This framework ensures that IBOSD certifications validate what a learner knows, what they can do, and how effectively they can explain and justify their performance— all supported by publicly auditable evidence.
IBOSD uses technology-enabled, rule-based auto-evaluation systems with predefined assessment criteria, supported by moderation and audit mechanisms. This reduces subjectivity, ensures consistency across centres, and creates a complete digital audit trail.

Yes. Country-specific accreditation is mandatory:
- Each country of operation requires separate IBOSD accreditation
- Within a single country, one accreditation is sufficient to cover multiple centres operating under the same legal entity
- All tutors and IQAs delivering or overseeing IBOSD programmes must hold a valid IBOSD-SDFP qualification, regardless of location
All IBOSD examinations are conducted online through the IBOSD assessment platform, in accordance with IBOSD’s assessment, security, and quality assurance policies.
PAEP A (Academic / Knowledge-Based Assessment): Evaluated automatically through the IBOSD online assessment system, based on predefined marking schemes and assessment criteria.
PAEP B (Practical / Performance-Based Assessment): Evaluated automatically through the IBOSD online assessment system, using predefined performance criteria, checklists, and system-based scoring algorithms. IBOSD reserves full rights to review, moderate, audit, or re-evaluate PAEP B inputs and system-generated scores prior to final result declaration.
PAEP C (Communication & Competency Assessment): PAEP C consists of two integrated evaluation components:
- System-Based Evaluation: Submitted reports and supporting evidence are automatically evaluated by the IBOSD system for parameters such as structure, word count, keyword relevance, completeness, and alignment with expected learning outcomes. The system also verifies submitted evidence.
- Panel-Based Evaluation: A panel constituted by the Authorised Training Provider (ATP) evaluates the learner's communication ability, clarity of explanation, professional reasoning, and competency demonstration.
IBOSD retains full authority to participate in, observe, moderate, or independently review PAEP C assessments to ensure consistency, transparency, and integrity.
